I want to love itI love the idea of esalon. Customized hair color that is delivered to you. Here is what I found "good" about this product. Everything you need for home coloring is provided. The color was rich and actually did not fade. My problems: While the color was rich and very shiny , it was not the color I wanted. I wanted light ash brown. It was far too red for me. I tried 3 adjustments to the color and it actually ended worse than the original color. To be fair I did not speak with a representative but conveyed my dissatifaction via email. I may have continued to try to tweak the color if I had not developed such a bad scalp reaction to the hair color . It started with dryness of both the hair and scalp and ended with scalp breakouts, eczema type flaking and scaling, and hair loss. Changed my colorMy first recommended color was too dark. I really didn’t care for it, and colored over it within a week with A L’Oréal Superior grey coverage med blonde color. I thought I’d try a lighter color, so I just tried it. The color is much better. I followed the directions exactly, but it doesn’t cover my gray as thoroughly as the L’Oréal product does. Too dark, not enough red.This is the same problem I have with going to salons for coloring. I can say exactly what color I use and what works, but I'm second-guessed on my color. It then comes out far too dark with not enough red. It's either mixed wrong or the wrong developer is used and I'm stuck with a darker color for several weeks until I can do it again. Not good enoughI’ve had some problems with my colour and the lovely staff at esalon have tried to resolve them but it’s not been good enough. I wasn’t going to write a negative review but they keep emailing me asking me to review, so I will. The first colour was great but it burned a bit on my scalp. After I said I wanted to lighten up my colour they said they couldn’t help me but could provide me with a lighter colour for my roots to blend out the darker colour. I was skeptical as to whether this would work as my roots are only a bit lighter than my colour anyway but they offered to send a root retouch for free so I agreed. It didn’t make a lot of difference to my colour and the burning sensation was worse so I got in touch to let them know. They switched my colour to demi-permanent and I paid £20 with delivery for the next root kit. This is very expensive for what you get but I felt beholden to them as I had gotten the free one last time. The demi-permanent colour had no effect, my natural roots didn’t soak up the colour at all. The instructions were confusing too as it said not to put any of the colour on my ends or they would go darker, but also to put the remaining colour on my ends near the end of the processing time! After the failed colour, I bought a box of nice and easy for less than a fiver and it did the job nicely with no side effects. I’d say if you want the same colour every time this might be a good service for you, but be careful if you are sensitive (I’ve never experienced a reaction to hair dye before!) 0 of 0 people found this review helpful. Not what I expectedAfter reading so many great reviews, I decided to buy this product. First of all it is not easy to put the colour on your hair, then the smell of ammonia is quite strong, usually it isn't because my hair are dark and I use a dark colour. The colour itself seems right, slightly darker than what I wanted but fine. The biggest problem was to get it off my head. A nightmare! I used so much shampoo but still I could feel the product on my scalps. After drying my hair, I could still notice something gummy in my fingernail.
