Not the right shadeI can tell that the products are high quality and it felt great on my hair but when I washed out the product the color was much darker than I had hoped. There was no dimension to it or even a hint of the 'mahogany' that the color stated - it might have been better called 'darkest black'. Some of my hair has been colored before but even in the roots it was much too dark. I ordered this once tried it but it was not even close to my hair colorI ordered this once and tried it but it was not even close to my hair color and looked very unnatural. DisappointedI've been meaning to review my eSalon color for quite some time, I think I kept hoping it would improve. My first order was phenomenal, the color came out gorgeous. Unfortunately I was never able to replicate the color with the subsequent formulations. The third shipment is when I started to notice a significant difference in the product, especially the overwhelming overpowering smell; I've never used a color with such a potent chemical odor. Although I used the color in an open space with the windows wide open, I became sick to my stomach followed immediately by an awful headache - this has never happened before. Adding insult to injury the color was very dull, nothing like the rich chocolate color I achieved with the first shipment. A few weeks later I learned my 63 year old neighbor also used eSalon, during our conversation we realized we were sent the same "customized " color. My natural hair color is dark brown, her's is a much lighter color with shades of red - even when she colors her hair it's never close to a color as dark as my own. To say I was disappointed to learn my "custom color" was not in fact custom is an understatement; I feel as though to say so is false advertisement. Finally, my fourth shipment was the last straw as it caused burns to my skin that left me with permanent discoloration on my face (I accidentally touched part of my face with my finger) I should have known that a product with such a powerful chemical smell would be damaging to my skin. We apologize that you were dissatisfied with your eSalon experience and found the smell of our color overwhelming. We would like to confirm that the ingredients in our color have not changed. We formulate your hair color based on your individual needs and some colors may fall in the within the same color range so they may have the same name but are a different formulation based on your formula ID. In rare cases, one can develop sensitivity to hair color over time. This is why eSalon recommends performing a skin allergy test 48 hours before each hair color application. Instructions for the skin allergy test are included in our Product Safety & Usage guide with every hair color order. |
Color change not achievedI reordered the same color as previous order, but included instruction to the colorist to make the color a little darker. Store brand colorThis was a color that I could get at Any retail store. I was hoping for a prettier custom color that wasn't a just out of a box shade. This was very disappointing.
