Sticky/ waxy residue is extremely frustratingI have been using e-salon for over a year now. I really like the custom color; I have medium, ashy, brown hair that tends to become brassy with store-bought hair color so when the e-salon colorist added enough ash in my second order the color was almost identical to my natural hair avoiding undesired brassiness and giving me soft and shiny hair. The gray coverage is also excellent (I am in my early 30's but have had grays since 19 so I know the deal!). Anyway, for all these reasons I put up with a big inconvenience: having to wash my hair at least 5-6 times to get the sticky/waxy residue off my hair. I initially contacted customer service and they suggested to use bicarbonate and to rub my hair with some of the product left in the bottle immediately before washing my hair but that only reduced the # of washes from 7-8 to, as I said, 5-6 times. It has become extremely frustrating to spend so much time, effort, shampoo and water just to color my hair (especially during this time of the year where it grows like crazy) so it does not make sense for me to continue using it as much as I like the other features. I also wonder if the color would stay even longer if I didn't have to wash my hair that many times the first day I apply the color. 0 of 0 people found this review helpful. Did you? |

Great color great customer service great everythingI am a natural readhead , red hair color is extremely hard to do correctly , especially mine as I have red orange gold and a bunch of other undertones naturally Started coloring my hair in my 40's To cover some greys and also my hair had lost some of its luster as well Went to countles salons some results where disastrous one time I came out with crayola red hair color another time carrot top ,finally I just started telling the to do red and blond highlights Finally I gave up tiered of spending hours on the salon plus the cost I found esalon , sent pictures of what my hair looked like now sent pictures of my natural ,they sent me the custom color and it was Perfect Not only is the color perfect the formula it self has not damaged or dry my hair I think it actually improved my hair,plus the convinience of doing at home and at more than half the price ! 0 of 0 people found this review helpful. Good colorOverall I liked it pretty well. The color is a little darker than what I imagined, but it's still really pretty. The only complaint I really have is the texture of the dye. When I went to wash it out of my hair, the dye was sticky and leaving residue all over my hands. It felt like I had gum in the ends of my hair. I was in the shower for over an hour trying to wash it out and it still never came out. I had to use some Neutrogena Build-Up remover shampoo to get it out my hair. Difficult for vibrant red headsThe color you sent me is too blonde again. I don’t want blonde/orange roots - I just want the root color to look more like the vibrant red you sent me for my ends in my very first box. Also I have WAY too much hair for 1 bottle. The refresh bottle that I receive each month says it should refresh my roots and my ends, that’s a joke. The color on my ends fades so fast that getting one bottle every 4 weeks for just the roots is just not going to work for me. Damaged boxUnfortunately, i was supposed to receive a touch up box last month; however, it never came. I just received my second box, and it came damaged with the hair colour leaking and getting all over the other products.
