No gray coverage. Very disappointed!I have never professionally dyed my hair at a salon and home box dyes have done a poor job at covering my grays so I was willing to pay a little extra for full gray coverage. Unfortunately, I was VERY DISAPPOINTED! :( My results: Some grays remain silver white and some turned golden orange. Also, during the dyeing process, the aroma of the dye made my eyes sting when I turned my head to look in the mirror. I'm concerned about what is in the formula that caused my eyes to sting and am worried about the health of my scalp and hair. I have never experienced this with box dyes. Turned my roots orangeI reached out to customer service but have not heard back yet. I followed all the instructions to the dot, but my roots became a quite bright orange colour. I specifically mentioned that I wanted to avoid orange or coppery tones, so I am not very happy with the colour of my roots. The colour of the rest of my hair is not bad, but I have personally had better results with just a drugstore hair dying set, so I didn't see the benefits of this personalised hair colour. 1 of 1 people found this review helpful. Just ok...I didnt really see much difference from my natural hair color and the color i applied. I just canceled my next order and rather go to the hair stylist to get better result. Did NOT cover all my gray!Applied as directed, in fact left the color on an extra 10 minutes and then proceeded as directed. Some gray did not colored at all, some gray was very light brown instead of dark brown. I sent a message to my colorist 3 days ago with no response. I watched the cover gray video also. NO RESPONSE. Custom ends refresherThis was a different color from my roots only color, which I didn’t realize, and I hated it. Made my hair very orange looking. Thank god we’re not going out in public right now . Does not cover the greysUnfortunately, the second round of color still did not cover the gray roots. At this point, I would like a refund instead of trying another color again. Color fadedThe directions were clear. I liked the color, but on the sideburns and beard the color did not last long. about 5 days to start and in 10 days it was half white. I am making my 3d application today, but if it does not last I will go back to my old color. I do like this new color tho. Worst hair experience since I was 12This dye turned into gummy glue on my scalp. It took me an hour to get some of it out. It was a two hour process total I finally used shower gel which was only thing that would break it up a little. I had to comb it out of every piece of hair. It was especially awful at back of hair and over ears. It was an awful experience and I have died and not enjoyed dying my hair at home for over 30 years. I really wanted this to work!This is the 3rd try on the hair color with adjustments requested each time to see if it would work. I left the color on for 60 minutes this time.. 20 minutes longer than told to do. I started with my grey areas first at the temple and roots.. but the color still would not take at the temple area & in some of the root area. I am so bummed as I really hoped this would work, but I can't seem to find a solution. The color itself is beautiful. Unfortunately, I have cancelled my subscription. Didn't lighten as advertisedFirst time using esalon and was very hopeful. Unfortunately the color of my hair barely changed and overall it feels like a waste. I was trying to get my dark brown hair lighter, which I know isn't easy...especially from a box without bleaching, but the way this was advertised made It seem as though It would work. I was given a sense of possibility when I was shown in the simulation of what my hair would look like post dying it with my selected color. Very DisappointedThe real and honest truth.. my intention is not to bash eSalon or be cruel. This is my actual and honest experience.. I can't speak for the color or the application process but I feel very let-down. I placed my first order a week or two ago and was really excited because I had seen so many reviews stating how great eSalon was. For obvious reasons, I was nervous to purchase hair dye through the internet and was even more unsure about the color that I should get. So I called to talk to a representative or "colorist." I was told that once I created my online profile I could voice those concerns in the questionnaire they have you fill out, select a color that I liked, and then someone would call or email me to talk me through it. When my coloring kit showed up on my doorstep, I still hadn't heard from a colorist, so I gave them a call. I was told that I was speaking to one of eSalon's "colorists" but the woman I was speaking to was definitely not a professional. It was as if she was reading from a script and did nothing to ease my mind. She also didn't seem to know anything about me, my current hair color, or what I was looking for, because she asked me all of the questions she should have already known the answers to when she "pulled up my profile." Again, it is not my intent to "bash" eSalon. Like a lot of people, I have had my fair share of color mishaps and when I get my hair done or dye my hair at home, I want to be able to trust either the stylist or the company that I am buying hair dye from. TerribleI tried to order a color similar to my blonde hair ( I’ve had it blonde for years by choice). I should have known it was going to be an epic disaster when I was not allowed to order blonde. I got a dark ashy brown. I waited and waited to finally use the e-salon product because I was scared it wild come out wrong and of course it did. I went from blonde to brunette which I am very unhappy about. I could have gotten the same results with an over the counter dye. I am Very upset and disappointed, what a waste of money and it makes me look horrible. A little disappointingI don’t normally write reviews but I was a little disappointed so here it is. I just colored my hair with an esalon product. I love the color. It did not cover my gray at my face line. But did cover scalp gray. I also lost a lot of hair. I don’t normally color my own hair and maybe that is normal. Don’t know if I will buy again. No colour match available!I've not used this product as after I ordered it, you wrote to me saying that you were unable to match the colour to the lightness of my hair colour. I am therefore not happy to risk using something that you yourselves stated would not match my hair colour, and taking the risk that i would end up with two tone hair!! I am not really able to understand why you could not specifically get to the blonde colour shade that I have always had ... its not that difficult, and in fact I have since bought a colour product from the chemist which has done the job no problem! Pleasantly underwhelmingI was very excited to get my box. I love the packaging and the way it looked, the personalization of it all. I followed the instructions exactly. My colour was supposed to be intense Pearl. What I got was very dark brown, no purple no red. WTF I’m so so disappointed, it’s that dark nothing is going to go over it and make a difference other than another dark brown, which is not what I wanted, purple/red yes brown no. Bad bad colorI cannot believe after all of the questions I answered they got my color so wrong. My hair is auburn they sent color for roots and ends, Now I have violet roots and brown orange ends. When my stylist is back at work she will need to do a color correction. I would have been better off with a drugstore product. Not light enoughI ordered the lightest blond, I thought. Included a pic. Maybe I should have left the color in for 40 minutes instead of 30, but it came out significantly darker than I thought. It's okay, and I can live with it, but I do wish it was a lot lighter. Like I said, maybe I should have left it in longer. Do Not Use this productI specifically ordered from this company because they advertised the tone was superior to other box dye. I ordered cool blonde and it turned my hair orange ! NOT the right color AT ALL and I had a HAND FULL of hair FALL OUT!The color smelled great but then when we used it all was good until washout time and I had handfuls of hair falling out and then when I finally got it conditioned (which what they gave me was nowhere NEAR enough for the job it did on my hair). I had to use all kinds of special conditioners to add to what they gave me to cover all the rats and big hunks of hair stuck together in a big not to try and loosen them. I also had to use a leave-in conditioner after I got out of the shower to be able to PICK through my hair cause no way was a brush going through it without ripping even MORE hair out! The color is NOT right it was supposed to be red and it has spots of blonde in it and I am just very disappointed. I thought this would be the BEST in hair color, I guess I was REALLY bad wrong! The color is just okayIt’s not that the color is bad, and it may be because I JUST dyed my roots today and it takes time to lighten a little bit (maybe) but with my notes saying that I would like to go lighter and with the slight adjustment of my color going lighter, I don’t see a difference and my roots actually look even darker then they did before. Did not work at allI’m sad to say this product did not work well for me. I am no stranger to coloring my hair at home and normally have good results with other brands so I decided to try e salon based on the reviews. Sadly e salon color did not work well for me at all. I followed every direction to the T and majority of my grays were not covered at all, and I don’t have a lot only a few that frame my face. Terrible service, do not recommendI received my first order from ESalon-did not cover gray and what did cover turned brown hair blond! Esalon said I should throw entire contents out and would send me a new order. New order received-did NOT cover the gray and little that did turned red--back to zero. Told to throw it all out and they would gladly send new order with directions to keep dye on longer. New order arrived with NO brush! When I called to inquire, they said they don't supply brushes! So disappointed!I did not receive what I wanted, which was all over color and lighten a teeny tiny bit. I got Roots Only! So they think it's a good idea to just lighten my roots. When I contacted them about this they said that was the best way to do this so. I thought these were professional stylist??? There's also no way to respond to my stylist or the person that just sent me a message. I have to go back in and start all over again with somebody new that will get my message. Loved the root color, but the end color was too orangeI did a strand test of both colors just to be sure, and found that the end color was simply too dramatic for my taste. Overall, not bad, but...The good: The color match was surprisingly good given it was based on a not-so-good photo (I stink at selfies) and my best guess at matching a color swatch. Definitely more like a salon color than a drugstore box in terms of the "depth" of the color. The condition of my hair and scalp after coloring were better than after a salon color (my scalp gets "tight" feeling and itchy after a salon color but that didn't happen with this product). The not-so-good: Grey coverage was less than stellar (especially on the parts that are close to pure white), despite processing for the full 30 minutes and "emulsifying" in the shower as directed. It's possible that was the fault of the application (there was an awful lot of product left over, could be it wasn't mixed or applied correctly) or that something can be tweaked to make it cover the grey better. I also didn't find it terribly easy to apply by myself (got dizzy and nauseated working backwards in the mirror) and ended up asking my husband to finish it for me. Bottom line: A better-than-expected stopgap until the salons are open again, which I'll use again if that doesn't happen before I need a retouch. Clown red hairI’m a natural redhead with some grays. Months ago I had my hair colored darker with some dark red highlights. I chose the copper red color for my hair, explained I wanted the highlights gone and sent a pic of my hair. Now most of my hair is clown red, with brownish roots and an orange colour where the highlights were. This is so much worse than it was before I really don’t want to go out in public. Already showing grey at hairline after 4 days and no washingThis was my first try with eSalon. The kit was nice and arrived on time. The instructions and tools were good. However, when my hair dried after applying the color and washing it, the color was too light to match my natural roots. So the colorist should have looked at the photos I sent and adjusted the color to be darker to match my roots. Also, it's only 4 days since I applied the color and I haven't washed my hair, but grey is already appearing at my temple. I'm having to spray Root Magic on the temple area to cover the grey. Not a “custom” color setI ordered the product with the understanding that I could customize the color. When I asked my stylist to do this, I was told they would be sending me one of their premixed color options. As predicted, the color was not what I wanted. I know these are crazy times and perhaps you are unable to make custom formulas currently, but you should state that. Disappointed but eSalon is ListeningWhen completing my initial information in April 2020, I documented on the forms that I have very resistant extremely hard to color 100 % gray hair & a very sensitive scalp. I explained that prior to COVID 19 I had been going to the salon every 4 weeks to get my roots colored for many, many years. I documented on forms that several products that salon(s) used over the years caused my scalp to burn and or hurt. I wrote the brand of the color product that the salon used to color my hair successfully for years. I sent a picture in from my last color & another of my favorite color with highlights from 6 months ago. I called eSalon & explained all of my hair color challenges. After being assigned a colorist, I sent a few emails explaining my challenges and requested that he review the information I submitted to eSalon. My colorist & I spoke as well. We discussed my needs. He is very knowledgeable. I watched the "how to videos" he recommended. He is always willing to answer my questions. Since this was my first time coloring, it took longer. My husband assisted me. I was thrilled that my scalp did not burn. I thought everything was good until day 7 when I washed I hair with my sulfate free products in effort to preserve my color. Immediately, I noticed quite a bit of my gray coming through. Today is day 12 after coloring my roots. Today, I washed my hair for only the 2nd time since coloring my roots. Now you can't even tell that my roots were recently colored. My gray roots are completely showing all over my entire head. I contacted eSalon this afternoon to speak with my colorist. Adjustments will be made to my next color to hopefully make it last longer & cover my gray much better. I forewarned eSalon staff about my issues with color orally as well as in written form in effort to avoid these exact issues. I am disappointed in how my color turned out.
